Gift Guide for HIM!

I don’t know about you but the guys in my life are so unbelievably hard to shop for!! I usually just wait until they mention something they want, write it down and cross my fingers that they don’t purchase it themselves. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I came up with a few gift ideas that might help make it a little easier!

My fiancé and dad both carry this style wallet and I know both of them will never replace it until myself or my mom purchases them a new one. This is a best seller on Amazon and is less than $20! Comes in tons of different colors as well.

All the men in my life,(that doesn’t sound very good…) seem to be obsessed with tech gadgets. I know my dad loves blue tooth speakers for some reason. Check out this Bose one! It is scratch and dent resistant AND waterproof! On sale right now for less than $80.

Fansedge is 65% off site wide right now (through Wednesday the 12th)! They have everything from NFL to soccer to even NASCAR. Super easy to find a little something for the sports fan! Don’t worry if you’re not a Patriots fan, they have quite a few lesser teams to choose from.

Now I personally want this gift for myself, but I know it would be a hit with dad’s, boyfriends and husbands alike. Classic Nintendo anyone?! Someone PLEASE buy this for me!!!

My guy is a coffee drinker for sure. And he prefers espresso, black. We got this Nespresso last year and are absolutely obsessed. This particular one comes with the milk frother, which is a game changer for at-home coffee. On sale right for $179! That’s a steal. Also, this one does espresso shots AND regular coffee!

I frequently steal these from Nick because they are so comfy! I don’t know any guy who doesn’t like getting new sweatpants. And these are bomb.

This will be in my house before the end of the year. So your guy can stay in touch with man’s best friend! Not only can you see your dog, you can also toss your pal a treat. I just think this is the coolest thing ever! Also, I’d really love to see what my dogs do when we aren’t home!

I imagine this could be fun to play with the family. Does your guy like games? What about hilarious innuendos and comics?! Then this is the game for him! Along the same lines as Cards Against Humanity but in comic form.

For the chef in your life, Le Creuset is amazing cookware! Sometimes you can find quite the deal on it. This casserole dish is under $100 and a great addition to someones cookware.

Brows 2.0

Who knew that brows would be SO important nowadays?! I remember the first time I ever plucked my brows. It was in 7th grade and I asked this girl in my gym class, who is now my best friend of almost two decades, if she plucked her brows and if it hurt. She told me no and I said LIAR!!!! But still, plucked my brows for quite a few years! I was definitely an over-plucker. It wasn’t until after high school that I started waxing and realized I had gone too far. So I then started the process of growing them back out. Not fun at all. I’ve gotten to the point where I just do them myself now! And I love me a good thick, bold brow!

So below, you will find my step by step process on how I clean them up and fill them in!

Here is my before picture. It has probably been about a month since I last cleaned them up.

My left brow is a LOT sparser than my right.

What I do first is mark where I want my brows to start and end and where I want my arch with a brow pencil, as seen below. You can use the brow pencil to line this up as well. If you hold it vertical to your face along the side of your nose, that’s where your brow should start. If you hold it diagonal from the bottom of your nose and across the bottom of your eye, thats where it should end. I can try and do a video of this on Instagram later. For the arch, you do the same for the end of your brow, except line the pencil up so that it crosses over your iris.

Next, I outline my brows pretty heavily with how I’d like the shape to look. This is the best way to do it in my opinion because you can get a general idea of shape, but if you don’t like it, it’s easy to wipe off the brow pencil and try again! I recommend trying this a few times if it’s your first time. Make sure your happy with the shape before any plucking is done! Below is the shape I went with.

One of my brows naturally has a more defined arch than the other and I just leave it because, Brows are sisters, NOT twins!

So once I’ve outlined them, I pluck all the hairs outside of the lines! I use a little spoolie to brush the hairs up and down so I make sure I get all the strays. Sometimes if I have extra time I’ll trim the hairs so they are a little nearer without brow gel.

Below are my brows completely shaped with the brow pencil wiped off.

I don’t mind my brows not filled in, I just much prefer a bolder look.

To fill them in I begin at the tail end of my brow, drag that out just a tiny bit farther as mine won’t grow where I want them to. Then I just use tiny little strokes to fill in the rest of the brow! I generally use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in dark brown, but I also like the Elf brow pencil in taupe if I’m on a budget. I either use the Anastasia Beverly Hills or Ulta brow gel in clear.

Here is my final look!

Please let me know if you have any questions and I can try and answer them for you!

Thanks so much for reading!

The Maiden Voyage

Thanks for joining me!

My name is Angela, I am 29 years old and live in Alaska. Yes, Alaska, which is in fact part of the United States if you were unsure. I JUST turned 29 and I have spent my twenties trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. I have taken so many back roads, u-turns, roundabouts and wrong ways,  it’s not even funny. Finally though, at 29, I finally feel like I am where I am supposed to be and doing what I am supposed to do! Not going to lie, it is a great feeling.

Definitely not saying my life is perfect. FAR from it. I am disorganized, hate cleaning, terrible at keeping up  with laundry, volunteer for way too many things, not good at saying NO, sometimes a huge procrastinator and I hate cleaning the cat box, big problem when you have one litter box and two cats. But whatever, nobody is perfect. Where I lack in organization and cleaning skills, I excel in decorating for Christmas, binge watching Netflix, finishing a book in one sitting, and meeting deadlines at the last minute. So there’s that.

Anyway! This site will be a place you can come to read about my favorite books, 19070’s remodeling (horror) stories, my crazy animals, new recipes (not by me, I don’t do the cooking, but my fiance Nick is fabulous), and different organizations to volunteer with, which is really one of my biggest passions! Plus, probably a whole lot more because I just like writing about anything that piques my interest.

So, thanks for stopping by, going to reheat my coffee for the 7th time this morning, do some of my actual work and get our transmission flushed on the truck, whatever the heck that means.

Have a wonderful Thursday!
